Bakers Basco instruct us in relation to the recovery of bread trays on behalf of the biggest names in UK bread supply including Allied Bakeries, Warburtons and Hovis. We have been working with the asset recovery team at Bakers Basco for over 8 years.
They came together to buy and manage the use of Omega bread baskets throughout the UK, in addition to their memberships own bakery equipment. There are currently 3 million baskets in circulation and many of these are mistreated and used by third parties who have no legal right to use them.
We have helped them to secure many restraining injunctions protecting their equipment and initiated over 300 court actions seeking damages due to conversion and misuse. In a recent case school food supplier Gilmoor Foods Ltd (GF) was fined in excess of £6,000 inclusive of legal costs for the misuse of the bread trays. They have also been subjected to an indefinite restraining injunction to stop them using the baskets for meat storage and transportation.
Steve Millward, General Manager at Bakers Basco told the Food Service Equipment Journal “Our recovery team tracked a sizeable amount of our equipment to Gilmoor Foods, using GPS technology. It was clear they had been used to transport and store Gilmoor’s own produce.”
To help deter tempted parties from converting or stealing and subsequently misusing the baskets, Bakers Basco have been fitting the baskets with GPS technology and impregnating them with a traceable glitter additive.
