Our WIQS Accreditation - What does it mean?

In 2013 the Law Society created a protocol to support the provision of Will drafting and Estate Administration/Probate services amongst Solicitors and developed an accreditation known as the Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS).
The overarching objective behind any accreditation is that the Law Society wanted to raise standards of client care and service to the Public by establishing a code of “preferred practice”.
The Law Society approached eminent leaders in the field to set out a preferred way of dealing with drafting of Wills and Estate Administration. It was hoped that by providing such a protocol to all legal practices dealing with this area of law they would adopt the preferred processes and this would:-
- improve communication between solicitors, their clients and beneficiaries
- increase transparency of the process; and
- allow firms to agree time frames and service levels with clients
The WIQS accreditation is not a mandatory requirement of law firms practising in this field but it is hoped that the accreditation itself will help the Consumer distinguish accredited firms from other firms as well as unregulated providers (such as Will drafting companies).
For Thackray Williams LLP we pride ourselves on our accreditation and we believe it demonstrates to our clients and others of our high standards of practice and high quality client service.
