Peter Walker
Senior Associate
Sevenoaks office
Peter is a Senior Associate Solicitor in the Private Client department and primarily based at our Sevenoaks Office. Peter joined Thackray Williams in May 2023.
Peter has over 40 years’ experience having qualified in 1984, initially as a conveyancer and for the last 25 years has concentrated solely on Private Client work.
Prior to joining the firm, Peter for many years managed a team dealing with all aspects of Private Client work (including Court or Protection) at a firm based in West London. Before joining his previous firm, Peter headed up the Private Client Department for a central London firm and whilst there set up and headed their Court of Protection department, advised on the setting up and operation of Personal injury Trusts, including arranging for the purchase and adaptation of properties where necessary for physically disabled clients.
Peter was, for over five years, a member of the Court of Protection specialist panel of deputies and as such was routinely requested by the court to manage the finances and rehousing of disabled and elderly persons, including taking over the management and resolving issues following alleged allegations of previous financial mismanagement.
Peter has dealt with most areas of Private Client work over his career (Wills, Trusts, Tax, Powers of Attorney, Deputyships and Estate Administration). He enjoys dealing with this sort of work because he likes to help families at different stages of their lives.
Peter also advises families and individuals on the best way of holding properties for tax planning purposes.
In his spare time Peter enjoys giving back to the community as Vice Chairman of his local Mencap. Peter has for many years also been involved in the running of the Canterbury Young Archaeologist club and pursuing his love of archaeology as well as enjoying time with his family.
